        Yoga certification through Yoga Trinity

        Hello!

My name is Emma. I have been practising Yoga since 2002 and teaching from 2015.

I am a qualified yoga teacher in the following modalities:

Vinyasa Flow Yoga Instructor through Yoga Trinity (January 2015)

Core Yoga Instructor - Yoga Trinity (April 2016)

Restorative Yoga Instructor - Mitch Gibson (2019)

I am a registered with Yoga Australia as Level 1 teacher and hold a current First Aid certification.

My classes are tailored to individual needs based on experience, strength and ability. I have taught students from their 20’s to their 60’s of all levels of ability and in each class will give variations of each posture based on your level of fitness and experience. Beginners are welcome in my classes.

It is my firm belief that Yoga is great for your body and can help relax your mind. The most common comment I hear from people is “I’m not flexible enough to do yoga”. You don’t have to be extremely flexible to enjoy yoga and you certainly don’t have to be able to touch your toes! Yoga can be done by anybody. The mission of Body & Soul Yoga is to lead you through a series of poses safely and have you leaving a class feeling energised yet relaxed and over time, developing your strength and flexibility.

        What is Vinyasa Flow Yoga?

Based on the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, I will take you through a series of postures (asanas), mainly from the Ashtanga Primary Series, flowing from one pose to the next using mindful movement and steady breath. In each class we will practice Sun Salutations and a variety of standing, balancing and seated postures, concluding each class with a guided relaxation.

Vinyasa Flow yoga is not suitable for pregnant students new to a yoga practice*. I would be happy to recommend a pre-natal class if you have an enquiry.

*If you are an existing student, please contact me and we can discuss modifications to your practice.

        What is Restorative Yoga?

Restorative Yoga is all about “not doing”. In the hectic lifestyles we lead today, this style of yoga allows you to access your parasympathetic nervous system to make you feel more rested and rejuvenated. It is about giving yourself permission to rest, disconnect, turn inwards.

“Restorative yoga is the use of props to create positions of ease and comfort that facilitate relaxation and health” – Judith Hanson Lassiter

        What is Core Yoga?

Core Yoga involves slower postures using breath, awareness; core strengthening and stretching which will strengthen the body and calm and focus the mind. Core yoga is not suitable for pregnant students.

I would be happy to recommend a local pre-natal class if you have an enquiry.

        Why should you do Yoga?

Yoga is beneficial to people of all levels of fitness. With regular practice, using movement with breath, you will gain strength, body tone and flexibility. It makes you more aware of your own posture, is a great mindfulness tool and known to be good for stress relief.

It’s 60 minutes in the day just for you. Leave the world outside and come and give it a go.

“The practice of yoga will be firmly rooted when it is maintained consistently and with dedication over a long period” – Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras – Alistair Shearer Translation.

Yoga is not a “quick fix” and you won’t become an expert in a short time, but with consistent practice, you will improve and realise the benefits that can be gained from a regular Yoga class.

The best thing you can do for yourself is show up on the mat.
